Costa Alavezos

“Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho it’s off to work I go.” These are the words locked into my mind everyday on my way to work at Walt Disney World.

While attending the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, a few of my Art Instructors thought that I would never make it as an Illustrator. Hallmark Greeting Cards hired me as a staff artist to do greeting cards. They sent me to California to be trained as a character artist and that was my big break.

I wanted to do freelance work for Walt Disney World so I sent them my portfolio. They liked my work and gave me a contract to do freelance work. Many months later they offered me a position as a Senior Character Artist for the Disneyland Park. I accepted the position and it’s a tremendous thrill to be working for the Walt Disney Co. Who says dreams never come true?
