Christmastime at Disneyland
Resorts
This holiday season, through January 6, the entire
Disneyland Resort will light up and sparkle as the festivities begin as early as
October with two stunning new shows and attractions: the whimsical Haunted
Mansion Holiday in Disneyland and the dazzling Disney's LuminAria in Disney's
California Adventure.
The new Disney's LuminAria, a spectacular celebration of glittering lights,
colorful images and favorite holiday music performed on the waters of Paradise
Bay surrounding the park's Paradise Pier area, will debut at Disney's California
Adventure on November 9, 2001.
Disney's LuminAria begins as all the lights within Disney's California Adventure
dim and a swirling pyrotechnic-flame ignites the surface of Paradise Bay. The
show then follows with an astounding display of fireworks appearing to dance to
such musical standards as "White Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "Valse de Fleurs,"
and numerous others. Giant screens on the water will display hundreds of holiday
cards hand crafted by park Guests earlier in the day, and a giant 60-foot tree
filled with candles will appear to rise from the bay.
In addition to Disney's LuminAria, Disney's Electrical Parade will resume its
nightly run in Disney's California Adventure on Thanksgiving Day. The pageant's
illuminating nighttime performances, coupled with its distinctive "Baroque
Hoe-down" synthesized soundtrack has been a favorite of Disney theme park Guests
for nearly 30 years.
Disney's California Adventure will teem with holiday spirit from lights and
garland adorning the replica of the Golden Gate Bridge to a 30-foot Christmas
tree inside Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Colored lights will be wrapped around
the palm trees in Paradise Pier, and gold ornaments will be placed festively on
the buildings in the Bay Area district of the park.
The Haunted Mansion Holiday headlines this year's holiday celebration at
Disneyland. The new attraction, which opened October 5, 2001, will continue
operating throughout the annual transformation of Disneyland into the "The
Merriest Place On Earth." Jack Skellington from the film Tim Burton's Nightmare
Before Christmas will descend upon the world-famous Haunted Mansion to bring his
vision of the holidays to life. Guests will have to watch out for witty gags and
playful twists inserted into the original attraction storyline.
Included in the Disneyland holiday magic will be the "it's a small world
holiday" attraction, a New Orleans Square Christmas celebration, the park's
traditionally decorated 60-foot Christmas tree, and beginning Thanksgiving day,
"A Christmas Fantasy" parade will perform daily along Main Street, U.S.A.
The holiday season will also feature "Believe... In Holiday Magic," a special
version of the park's popular fireworks spectacular followed by snowfall.
