Here's a preview of Independence Day Happenings At WDW on July 4.

Magic Kingdom Park
At 9 p.m., the Magic Kingdom Park will pay tribute to the United States by playing patriotic music and presenting an expanded version of the normal Fantasy in the Sky fireworks show.

Epcot
Nearly 500 immigrants will be sworn in as United States citizens at the America Gardens Theatre at 9 a.m. Holiday celebrations also will include performances of This Is America at the American Gardens Theatre at noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Native American dancers and a bluegrass band will perform Reflections of Earth in the American Adventure rotunda throughout the afternoon. A special presentation of IllumiNations will take place at 10 p.m.

Disney-MGM Studios
The Disney-MGM Studios will host a special presentation of Sorcery in the Sky fireworks featuring patriotic music at 9 p.m.


Pleasure Island
Pleasure Island will host Party Patriotic, a special Fourth of July celebration that will take place July 3-5. The event will feature caricaturists, stilt walkers, prizes, and special fireworks each night at 11:55 p.m.

Surprise Pin Released at WDW
Today a LE 1000 Surprise pin was released at World Of Disney this pin sold for $8.50. Although the back of this pin reads that this was a global surprise release,  the entire edition of 1000 was released here at Walt Disney World. This design is very similar to one of the pins in the 2001 Golden State Holiday Pin Set.

Best Wishes Lee Ann
After 26 years at Disney, Lee Ann who you have seen many times showing us all of the pins to be coming out soon at the pin events shall be leaving. Lilo & Stitch Surf Into Disney-MGM
Disney-MGM Studios guests now can see Lilo and Stitch riding in the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade and posing for photographs in the Animation Courtyard. Images of Stitch appear in a variety of locations, from Security kiosks to the 100 Years of Magic billboard at the theme park's main entrance. An oversized inflatable Stitch also can be found near the park's entrance.

When Pin Addict Goes To Pin Junkie
I was sent this story but author didn't want to be known

Pins....
The addiction that has gripped me for so long...
Has made me finally sunk to a new low...

The day started as a hunt for the elusive "Figment Face" Cast Lanyard
Exclusive pin. It had just come out three days before, but this was my first
time trying to track it down. It wasn't for me... really, it wasn't...I told
you guys I was out of pins and I mean it.... it was for a friend (yeah,
that's it, that's the ticket), don't you go scowling your face while you
read this, I'm telling you the truth...

Anyway...

I went though Animal Kingdom in the morning. One... then another... then
another... then another...the lanyard exclusives, Mickeys, Minnies, Donalds,
even Peter Pans, but NO FIGMENT ! I grabbed them anyway, I figured I could use them as traders anyway. One by one, the pins I kept for trading
disappeared from my bag, replaced by another precious Lanyard Exclusive and
another and another...till there was none left to trade.

I resolved to use one of my newly acquired lanyard pins to use for a trade
for a Figment. The pickings seemed to get slimmer and slimmer as the day wore on in Animal Kingdom. It was time to go "lanyard grazing" in another
park.

So off to Epcot I went. It was just beginning to rain. What ever lanyards I
saw were now being covered with ponchos. Even the ones I did inspect proved
fruitless. As I walked backstage, out past Test Track (yes, I am a cast
member), I was dejected, soaking wet, and tired. Then I saw the buses. Not for the Cast Members, not for VIP's, but for Blood.
The Central Florida Blood bank was having a drive at Epcot for the Cast
Members...

Then I remembered a story I read on Dizneypins.com
About Cast Members getting a pin for upcoming blood drives
(I realize now the word I should have noticed was upcoming)

I had no traders left. I needed more pins. And I was full of it...blood that
is.

So I walked into the bus, and to my shock, I learned that there wasn't a pin
for us, just a T-shirt and a discount coupon for half price admission to a
non-Disney park! (and of course the obligatory free juice, cookies and ice
cream). I would have felt guilty if I walked away, so I went ahead and got
myself "tapped" like a keg at vampire frat party.

It was quiet, with just some idle chit chat going on. The sound of the
idling motor mingled with the sound of the rain on the roof of the bus. I
had been there for only a few minutes when a Cast Member from another area
of Epcot came in. We chatted for a bit. There really wasn't much else to do.
I talked about my quest for Figment when he said...

"Oh that pin. I had it on my lanyard. Six guests came up and looked at it
and didn't trade for it."
"Where is the lanyard now?!" My heart rate and blood pressure jumped. I'm
sure I began to fill the bag just a tad bit faster at that point.
"Oh, I turned it in at the end of my shift. Then I came straight here. My
guess, it's out on the floor on someone else's neck."

The pin that I was looking for was about 200 yards west of where I was
bleeding at the moment. I looked down at my arm, at the needle that was
inserted on the inside of my arm, then my eyes followed the clear plastic
tube tinted in my particular shade of red, down the side of the bed and into
a bag slowly filling with A+...

I was stuck. I don't know if was from the lack of blood to my head, but
these options popped into my head:
1) Stay and finish.
2) I disconnect, go get the pin, come back later and finish the job...
3) I stay connected, get up, toss a jacket or poncho or something over my
arm so the guests in Epcot wouldn't see the needle, tube or bag. (Of course,
there could be the problems of  passing out while searching for this pin and
bleeding to death... but who cares, this was my quest!)

The nurse looked at me and said, "Oh no, you're not going anywhere now."
"Curses, foiled again" I muttered under my breath.

As soon as I was done, I did something stupid. I jumped to my feet. My knees
buckled. I faked that I was okay, knowing that if I stumbled, they would
keep me on board the bus even longer. I said thanks, and walked out into the
pouring rain.

It was like being drunk and soaking wet. No umbrella, poncho or hat. I began
my search. Once around, twice around, no Figments to be found. I began to
ask someone working there, if they had that pin. It was then I realized,
that what was coming out of my mouth, only had a passing resemblance to
English. It was then I thought to call it a night.

To paraphrase Scarlet O'Hara, "Oh well, tomorrow's another pin..."

Mickey's Pin Trading Nights at Boardwalk
Even tho it rained a large group of pin traders and many kids showed up for this grand opening event. Donald  and Mickey were both in attendance along with a D.J. spinning tunes. The Wanna Trade Tigger & Rabbit pin was released and sold for $8.50. Here are a few photo of what you missed or what you were enjoying.

Mickey's Pin Trading Nights at Boardwalk
As Dizneypins has told you for 2 weeks Mickey's Pin Trading nights will be adding Boardwalk on Sunday's along with Contemporary on Friday's. Well now here is the Wanna Trade Pin to be released at the Boardwalk's Mickey's Pin Trading Nights grand opening.

Mickey's Pin Trading Nights will have its Grand Opening on Sunday June 23 at Village Green at the Boardwalk Resort. This Mickey's Pin Trading Nights will take place each and every Sunday from 8pm-11pm and will have a Kids Zone. On June 23rd you will find many characters greeting pin traders along with a D.J. spinning some tunes. Also that night a new LE 2500 Wanna Trade selling for $8.50 pin will be released.

Now on Fridays you can go to the Contemporary Resort and on Sundays stop by Boardwalk Resort and trade a few pins and meet some friends.

ABC will broadcast the special "Disney's Lilo & Stitch: Aloha from Hollywood," on June 21 at 9 p.m. Filmed on location in both Hawaii and Hollywood, the special will be hosted by Kelly Ripa (Live with Regis & Kelly), and will feature clips from the film, celebrity interviews and surfing lessons with national surfing champion Kelly Slater. The special also will include musical performances by Wynonna, Jessica Simpson and The A*Teens. The Kamehameha Children's Chorus will make a special appearance. The special marks the June 21 theatrical release of Walt Disney Pictures' new animated film Lilo & Stitch.

"SHOCKWAVE" debuts at Epcot on June 15
This summer, Epcot guests can experience "Blast! II - SHOCKWAVE," a high-energy musical production making its world premiere at America Gardens Theatre.
Building on the successful tone and format of last year's show, "The Power of Blast!," which received the second-highest guest satisfaction ratings in Epcot history, "SHOCKWAVE" adds new twists, including new instruments and more interpretive movements. "SHOCKWAVE" will feature heavy percussion and brass re-creations of rock music classics such as "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, and other contemporary musical selections highlighting the theme of '60s pop culture.

From June 15-Aug. 24, the show will be performed daily at 4:30, 5:45, 7:10 and 8:15 p.m.

Admission to "SHOCKWAVE" is included with admission to Epcot.

Company signs deal with Travelocity and Expedia
Walt Disney World Co., recently signed an agreement with Expedia and Travelocity that will enable guests to purchase Walt Disney World vacation packages through these travel Web sites.
As part of the deal, both Expedia and Travelocity will launch Walt Disney World "mini-sites," where guests can book reservations and purchase tickets. Expedia's site will feature an interactive map of the resort, slideshows and schedules of upcoming events. Expedia also will promote Disney vacations through e-mail messages, hot links on the Microsoft Network, direct mail, and newspaper and radio advertising. Travelocity will provide Disney-related marketing campaigns to its more than 32 million members.

Disney Announces Co-Branded Credit Card & Strategic Alliances


The Walt Disney Company, Visa U.S.A. and Visa International (Visa) and Bank One announced, today, two multi-year strategic alliances that will create the first Disney-branded Visa credit card, which will be issued and administered by Bank One. The alliance will also provide Visa with marketing initiatives across Disney's various business units. The alliances will begin Jan. 1, 2003, with both the card and the cooperative marketing initiatives expected to launch in the first half of the year.
The credit card will enable cardholders to earn rewards that may be used toward the purchase of Disney theme park vacations, videos and other Disney-related merchandise. Cardholders will be able to utilize the Disney-branded Visa credit card for purchases at any location where Visa is accepted, both at Disney and non-Disney points-of-sale.

Guests inquiring about the credit card or how to apply should be told that applications will not be taken prior to the anticipated launch in Spring 2003. We will continue to honor the existing Disney Private Label Credit Card for all active cardholders.

Additional details on the announcement are included in the "Disney Press" module. As plans for the credit card are defined, employees and Cast Members will be informed through various Company communications.

Stitch Blitz!

Looks like he finally got his own movie!
Lilo and Stitch, the newest animated feature to be added to the Disney Family, premieres in theaters Friday, June 21st, and was produced at the Disney-MGM Studios Feature Animation Studio at Walt Disney World!
In obvious celebration, Stitch has been popping up all over the Disney-MGM Studios. Look for Stitch to be making appearances in new and exciting places as we get closer and closer to the movie's opening Day!

Roy E. Disney Rededicates Train At Magic Kingdom



Roy E. Disney, chairman of Walt Disney Feature Animation and vice chairman of The Walt Disney Company, helped rededicate the Roy O. Disney train at the Magic Kingdom Park on June 6 at 10 a.m. Scoop Sanderson was the MC of this dedication.

The Roy O. Disney train, which became part of the Walt Disney World Railroad on Dec. 1, 1971, has undergone a complete restoration.

Michael Campbell, a member of the board of governors of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society (named for Walt Disney's Carolwood Pacific backyard railroad), also took  part in the ceremony.

 Michael Campbell gave Roy Disney a small replica of the Roy O. Disney Train. George Britton received the Walter E. Disney Citation from the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society for his 34 years that he has been at Disney as the Roundhouse Foreman.


Many people gather at the floral side of the Main Street Railroad Station (between the railroad station and the Magic Kingdom front entrance) to enjoy the rededication ceremony. Roy Disney was shown how to drive the train and drove the train full of guests few over to Toontown.

Afterward, at 2pm, there was a private chat and Q&A with Roy Disney in the Disney Story Theater.

The WDW Pin Team was showing pins to be released in 2002. Some of which were future cast exclusive lanyard series pins over 60 on the board shown. 3 pins from the upcoming Sept. 2002 pin event. one was the Sept. pin event logo with a moving figment and one of figment on a hypnotic spinning wheel. Other pins were the 4th of July park pins which are very nice and yes one is figment at Epcot and Tinker Bell at Magic Kingdom. The DCL Artist Choice pins one of which is Capt. Hook. Figment will be seen on a pin which look like a hot air balloon with the basket & Figment attached by a gold wire and for you Lilo&Stitch fans yes many pins will be released for the opening of this new Disney movie.
Many very nice pin will be released in the coming months..
